Biography

Bonnie Rose loves her work as a Marriage and Family Therapist.

Bonnie earned her Bachelor's Degree in 1983 in American Studies, focusing on multicultural society; she completed her thesis research on telling the real life stories of children growing up with heroin addicted parents.

Bonnie then spent 25 years in a growth-filled career as a public and charter school teacher. She had the opportunity to work academically and emotionally with children and youth of all ages and backgrounds.

She is a lifelong child advocate and has devoted her career to the nurturing treatment of children in educational and home settings. She has extensive training and experience working with all stages of child and adolescent development including mother-infant attachment, school age academic and behavior challenges, assessments, diagnoses, and high school and college level adjustment. Bonnie's background includes a focus on parenting of special needs and diagnosed children.

Bonnie also has an extensive background in the arena of family systems within alcoholic/drug addicted families, with advanced knowledge of residential treatment approaches and 12-Step recovery communities. Her graduate research focused on the treatment of chronic, complex childhood trauma using EMDR, art, and narrative writing.

She is devoted to the continual study of non-dominant cultural experiences, and has training in working with LGBQ and Trans clients, and also with adults and child survivors of sexual abuse. She is trained in EMDR for treatment of anxiety and post traumatic stress, and includes play therapy, art experiences, sand tray, life writing and fun in her work.
